There are several reasons why your camera's firmware may fail to update:
1) Low Battery
- The battery level must be 50% or higher in order to attempt a firmware update remotely/over-the-air.
- To check battery level, launch your Scoutek App. From the menu, navigate to the Cameras page, and select View Status Report. From there, you will be able to see the current battery level. Replace batteries if needed. (Please note, the battery level is only accurate for alkaline batteries.)
2) On Demand setting is off
- If the On Demand setting is off, the firmware update will remain pending until the camera communicates with Scoutek's servers, i.e., until the next photo/video upload, or until a status report is sent at the next upload interval. Note: If the camera's Upload Interval is set to 'Real Time', and there is no motion in front of the camera during the day, the update will be applied once you receive the midnight status report.
- To check the On Demand setting, launch your Scoutek App. From the menu, navigate to the Cameras page. From there select the camera's settings option (). If On Demand is unchecked, the setting is off.
3) Weak Signal
- To determine signal strength, launch your Scoutek App. From the menu, navigate to the Cameras page. From there, select View Status Report.
- If signal strength is low, you will need to perform the update manually, or move the camera to a location with a stronger signal.
Prior to reattempting firmware update:
- Launch your Scoutek App. From the menu, navigate to the Cameras page. From there, click on the Action History bar to select and cancel the pending firmware update.
- Format SD card.
